Black Lives Matter (US) bei EOTO
Eine gute Gelegenheit für die Black Communities in Berlin, sich mit Aktivist*innen aus den USA auszutauschen gibt es bei EOTO am Dienstag, den 4. September 2018, wenn Vertreter*innen von Black Lives Matter (BLM) in die Togostraße 76 kommen. Ab 17:30 Uhr zeigen wir den BLM-Dokufilm von HBO "Baltimore Rising" und danach habt ihr die Möglichkeit, mit Black Lives Matter und weiteren Aktivist*innen zu diskutieren.

Die Dokumentation „Baltimore Rising“ thematisiert die Aufruhr in der Stadt Baltimore nach der Ermordung des Afroamerikaners Freddy Gray 2015. Der Fall hat die Themen Polizeigewalt, Racial Profiling und (institutionellen) Rassismus weltweit sichtbar gemacht und eine breite Diskussion ausgelöst. Gleichzeitig steht das Beispiel Baltimore für den Zusammenhalt und den Kampf für soziale Gerechtigkeit und Gleichberechtigung von zahlreichen Communities, Bewegungen und Aktivist_innen.
Nach der Filmvorführung wollen wir mit Vertreter_innen der Black Lives Matter Bewegung USA und anderen sozialen Bewegungen über diese Themen und die aktuelle Situation in Baltimore und den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika sowie Deutschland diskutieren. An der Diskussion wird auch einer der Hauptdarsteller der Dokumentation, Kwame Rose, teilnehmen.

Starting at 5:30 p.m. we will screen HBO's Black Lives Matter-Docu "Baltimore Rising". At the center of the documentary film “Baltimore Rising” is the uprising in the city of Baltimore following the murder of Freddy Gray in 2015. The case made the topics of police brutality, racial profiling and institutional racism visible around the world and sparked a wide-ranging discussion. At the same time, Baltimore stands as an example for the solidarity and fight for social justice and equality led by numerous communities, movements and activists.
After the screening of „Baltimore Rising” we want to have a discussion with representatives of Black Lives Matter (U.S.) and activists of various social movements to speak about these topics and the current situation in Baltimore, the U.S. in general and Germany. Kwame Rose, one of the main protagonists of “Baltimore Rising” will be present.
